“The human heart both cruel and kind,
Both rebellious and noble in mind
Can only be tamed by one true art:
A heartfelt song, sung from the heart.
But these are only songs, you see,
Their melodies fade away gradually.
But the Bird sings a different kind of tune,
The Nightingale breathes songs that forever bloom.
So I ask you now for your land’s own grace
Seek the fiery singer, find its place,
Hazaran Bulbul, so noble and pure,
When its song begins, you’ll feel the cure.”
excerpt from ‘Hazaran Blbul’ by Armenian poet Serine
